Generations

GENERATIONS

in collaboration with Vestlandske Teatersenter

YOUNG BEFORE AND NOW! IN «GENERATIONS» YOUNG AND OLD MEET FOR A JOINT PRESENTATION. K:13 Scenekunst and Vestlandske Teatersenter want to research young people's relation to their lives and their future - past and present. Is it different to be on the verge of adulthood in 2022 than it was in 1958? Are our ways of communicating the same as 60 years ago, or has the modern world changed us? The world is changing. Development is moving incredibly fast and society has changed in most areas since today's elderly were young. Has time changed us? Has the way society is organized changed the way we meet and talk together? Digital communicatio is something that has become part of our everyday life - and a central part of how we communicate with each other. For those growing up today, digital development is natural. For the elderly in society, it can be more difficult to relate to these new forms of communication. It is a new way of being human. But there is so much more. Today's young people have weekdays that are more filled with tasks and demands than they were 60 years ago, the meeting places are different and the things we care about may no longer be the same... or are they?

GENERATIONS is inspired by the interactive concept of ”Community Theatre”, where people who are not professional actors perform their personal, true stories on stage within a professional framework.

GENERATIONS focuses on the different generations' experience of growing up, adolesence and early adulthood. The performers are not actors, but normal people with different backgrounds.

The performance consists of dramatizations and tableaus that shed light on matters that are important and central in the participants' lives, whether they are 16 or 72 years old.

Steinar Thorsen and Jorunn Lullau from K:13 have been responsible for instructions, professional direction and facilitation.
